Tiravanija has consistently questioned the value of art objects within and beyond the white cube. In this exhibition, Tiravanija’s participatory works invite viewers to play ping pong, take away t-shirts, and lay on a hammock—subverting the hierarchies that occur when a viewer engages with art objects. These projects manifest the artist’s contemplation on ‘relations’ that run through his practice and reflect his belief in the collaborative process of creating art, where both the artist and audience contribute to the artistic experience.
