Overview

Koo Jeong A creates a site-specific installation that responds to the uncanny disused Jubilee line platform in Charing Cross Underground Station, by creating a sensory environment using smell and light – that considers the architecture of the Underground as a place of bodily encounters and movement.

Koo Jeong A creates a site-specific installation that responds to the uncanny disused Jubilee line platform in Charing Cross Underground Station, by creating a sensory environment using smell and light – that considers the architecture of the Underground as a place of bodily encounters and movement.

Jeong A’s work incorporates objects, still and moving images, audio elements, and aromas to create site-specific environments that question the boundaries between fact and fiction and alter our sense of reality. In her environments, nothing is merely ordinary; on the contrary, any material or phenomena—be it a mound of charcoal, a shaft of iron, or a glare of sunlight—are transformed into new discoveries or journeys.

Co-commissioned between ICA and Art on the Underground.
