One of the contemporary responses to the social impact of the crises of industrial society was the punk movement. Their original power can still be felt in Peppi Bottrop's pictures today.
Exhibited in this exhibition, Bottrop's large-format pictures fascinate with a style in which elements of “wild painting” and the development and recognition of structures result in a completely independent formal language. The choice of materials also defines the style: charcoal, graphite pencils, metal pigments, rust converters and acrylic according to the colours of the “Rust Belt”.
