A MILLION RABBIT HOLES is an immersive environment that reflects the febrile atmosphere of American politics in the lead up to another Presidential election this autumn. Entering the downstairs gallery, viewers are surrounded by a wallpaper that features a roadside woodlot amid a forested landscape in upstate New York. Hanging atop the wallpaper are four brass-plated stencils with slogans that reflect the atmosphere of political debate in America: A DIFFERENT KIND OF NOTHING, REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER, A MILLION RABBIT HOLES, and HAPPINESS IS NOT ALWAYS FUN. A purple carpet, covered in piles of loose firewood, extends the photograph’s scenery into the gallery environment. As members of the exhibition’s temporary community, visitors are encouraged to circulate in the space and engage in open conversation.

On view at Pilar Corrias Conduit Street, Gallery 2
